I was playing around online and I came across a couple of cool websites that have instructions on how to make paintball equipment/accessories. www.geocities.com/pomanspaintball/enter.htmlAND www.pukindogspaintball.com/misc/CHEAP.htmThey have FREE plans so that you make make some neat paintball things CHEAP! They have plans for the following: goggle fan, grenades, mines, silencers, no-fog spray, cannons, and LOTS LOTS more. You can even download the plans as a zip file so that you can look them up as you want. I'm going to play around with at least a couple of the plans and see how they work. I'm REALLy interested in the homemade "goggle fan".

Alright I already built the "goggle fan"! It took me all of about ten minutes and most of the was because I had to trim my goggles a bit to get a better fit.
It seems like it is working great, but the real test will be in the field.
The best part of it was that I already had ALL the parts that I needed just laying around my house.

How loud is it.

Not very loud at all...I'm sure out in the field I will notice it, but it is not loud enough to give away my position. I would also only have it on as needed, and not all the time. And for the cost difference between the Vortex Fans ($40) and the home made one (< $20), I will be happy with it.

Sounds pretty good. You are right you would only have to click it on and off for short time spans. what about the bulk of the thing.
Hey check out the game Ideas area under 24 Hour scenerio. tell me what you think there.

Bulk isn't bad either. The Fan, and Battery both fit under my visor, and then I have the switch off to the side. I haven't desided on the exact location for the switch yet, but for now its good.
btw, the goggles that I put this on are a cheap set of VForce. And I did have to cut a little, but unless I have the goggles off, you cann't even see the fan or cuts.

No problem....I think I even have an extra fan laying around still too. I'll dig through all my computer parts and see what I can find.

I probably have some old computer fans at work that I could get. I will see what I can do. Maybe I will bring them one week and see if anyone else is interested. I know I am.

I have a couple of switches, but they are momentaries (which means they have to be held down to continue to work, let go and they stop)

Tim, the fan I used was a 40mm(I think)...they type you would have on a video card or chip set of a pc. Case and processer fans are too big.

Case and processer fans are too big. and now you know why i was laughing. i had this mental picture of a cpu heatsink duct taped to some guys head as he ran around trying to be stealthy! the older cpu's (k6/pII and back) will probably have a small enough fan, but newer computers .. meh, not so much
