HPA is High Pressurized Air or Compressed Air or Nitrous Oxide (Nitro). Paintball Guns operate on Pressurized Air.
CO2 is a Liquid to Gas system that transforms into Compressed Air HPA is just Pressurized Air
The HPA is considered better for shooting since the temperature changes causes fluctuations in pressure on CO2 systems. You get more consistent shots with HPA.
Critical Mass Paintball is looking into a portable system for the Field at PBJ's. It is really expensive ($5,000.00). They may only get a system that fill up to 3,000 PSI only because the 4,500 system is more $$$
I am in favor of Critical Mass Paintball getting this set up - even though I bring my own (Scuba Tank). They provide a great service to us and this would be just another fine product to add to their list.

In preparation for the 24 hour scenario we are also wondering how many people would be using HPA instead of CO2.

I agree with David, even though I bring my own Scuba Tank, it would be great to have them available as a backup. Especially for the 24 hour game. I only shoot HPA any more, and I am sure to fly through my air supply.
The only thing that would be even better is if they got the adapter for the compressor to be able to refill my Scuba Tank for me too. I would rather give them to money then the local Scuba shop.
And yes HPA is better than CO2, but the tanks are also A LOT more expensive.

I can use either, I have a pair of 20oz c02 tanks i have been using but just bought a pair of 68/4500 tanks (one for each gun) and I would really like to only use the hpa from now on and only use the c02 as backup.

I have one HPA tank (looking to buy a second) that I use only. If I absolutly have to use CO2, I use it with a remote line so there is NO CHANCE of liquid CO2 enter my gun.
