Jer 4:16 Make ye mention to the nations; behold, publish against Jerusalem, that watchers come from a far country, and give out their voice against the cities of Judah.
Dan 4:13 I saw, in the visions of my head upon my bed, and, behold, a watcher and a holy one came down from heaven
Dan 4:17 This matter is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones: to5705 the intent that the living may know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of men.
Dan 4:23 And whereas the king saw a watcher and a holy one coming down from heaven, and saying Hew the tree down, and destroy it; yet leave the stump of the roots thereof in the earth, even with a band of iron and brass, in the tender grass of the field; and let it be wet with the dew of heaven, and let his portion be with the beasts of the field, till seven times pass over him;

well, the hebrew in Jeremiah says 'natsar' which literally means "to guard, in a good sense (to protect, maintain, obey, etc.) or a bad one (to conceal, etc.):-- besieged, hidden thing, keep(-er, -ing), monument, observe, preserve(-r), subtil, watcher(-man)."
Daniel uses the word `iyr, "(Aramaic) from a root corresponding to '`uwr' (5782); a watcher, i.e. an angel (as guardian):--watcher."
Jeremiah -- I think of two options. Either it's another nation that is coming against Jerusalem, or it's an angel/demon going against them.
Daniel -- I'm pretty confident that it's an angel.
Is this where the idea of a gardian angel comes from?
