Let's build a Woods Speedball Field The Best of both Worlds! Take a section of land about the size of the current fort field and clear it from bushes, brush, logs, and junk. Build two Flag Stations or Home Bases (at the ends). In the middle (or throughout), build bunkers, fox holes, bridges (if there is a creek or ravine - even if there isn't), and possibly a fort. The games usually go about 15 to 20 minutes since the pace is faster since you can see 200 feet or more. You can still hide, and the Home Bases can't see each other at the start of the games. All games can be played on this type of field, i.e. Capture the Flag, Center Flag, President, Hostage, etc. ........ Why stop there? Why not build a POW Camp, A small Town, or even a Castle!(http://www.skirmish.com/whatsnew.html,D ? ;D

Yeah man I like the idea of a speedball/woods ball field and something like a castle, like they have at castle quest. But I think we should expand make another speedball field next to the existing one and put inflatables in it!!!!! And also do something to the woods because theres some much potential in those woods.

Why don't we consider converting the "Fort Field" into this Woods Speedball Field? All we have to do is cut out some of the sticker bushes and loose rubish here and there. This field already has the field view of 200 yards and more. And there are already a few "boards" set out here and there. The Fort could be rebuilt and the "Starting Stations" would be left & right from the main entrance (at the boundry lines).
15-25 minute games Capture the Flag, Center Flag, Terrorist - you name it!
We could do this since we have the New Woods Field opened.

Lets see we have been talking about making a new speedball field in the field that is at the entrance to the back woods field. The woods speedball field would be awesome, I hope we can do that.

After obtaining permission, Tony & I started to cut down some of the sticker bushes on the "Old Fort Field". This will help everyone move about more freely. Once the sticker bushes & branches are gone, we will then remove the fallen logs and make bunkers. We will keep as much of the green cover as possible so you can still hide.
Anyone who wants to help, just bring a machette (use thick gloves) or weed whip and we can do alittle here and there on game days (before if possible).
Mr. Newman mentioned a donation of wood & boards. Does anyone want to help with a truck so we can transport the stuff to the field?
Remember: Donations don't always have to come in the form of money ...
;D

I guess this "speedball woodsball field" is a good idea but i dont get it, whats supposed to be in it, trees as bunkers? if you were gonna do that why not just play on a speedball field.

Good observation. That's why it is called a woods-speedball field. You have the best of both fields. But the bunkers are more natural (trees, bushes, boulders, and maybe a fort or so) which presents challenges. The field isn't totally bare, you just eliminate the Sticker Bushes, Dead Wood, and unwanted clutter. Now you have to really think and plan instead of running and shooting. Camoflauge does help and that adds to the fun.

I have a Chevy S-10 and trailer, and a fair amount of wood. I'd love to help build up somemore fortifications in the front woods area. If someone has wood, i can transport it easy enough.
Gargoyle, Ryan and i talked about doing some of this stuff last week. He should be back in town for this saturday, and we could talk to you about some of the ideas we had.
