I'm looking into getting a SCUBA tank to fill my air with. I know atleast one of you out there has a SCUBA tank and am curious about what size and PSI ratings you have on your tank, or would recommend me getting...btw my HPA tank is only 3000psi

We have the Red Scuba Tank. It is a 80cf/3000 Our HPA tanks are 47ci/3000
The trick is not buying the tank, it is getting it filled. Most Scuba Shops require you to have a "C-Card" to fill it.
We bought our tank from Scuba Unlimited (513) 793-4747 in Blue Ash. They are willing to fill my tank as long as I have my "Special Sticker" on it (sticker was $15.00) It costed us about $15-$20 more (than buying off of the "NET"), but they will fill it. It costs us $6.45 to fill it up (tax included).
To get a 4500 scuba tank would be really expensive. If you have a 4500 HPA, then you can only fill it up to 3000. Not all Paintball Shops can fill up to 4500 ....

David- have you ever thought about calling a welding supply place? The guys I play with get a large Co2 tank and rent it. After all chip in it's like $5.00 a pice to get tanks filled all season. I just found out that we have HPA tanks here at work. I talked to the guys in the shop and they told me they'd fill my tank if I had a adapter. So it looks like All I need is a tank. If you were to call a few welding supply shops you might be supprised how cheep it would be to rent. -Rob

If I bought a tank on the NET and put a similar sticker on it, would Scuba Unlimited fill it for me too? Or would I have to buy the tank from them also?

Get your tank.
Then I will take you to the shop and introduce you to them. They will probably fill it for you after you get a sticker.

Sweet...I'm looking at a 80cf/3000 Aluminum tank that still has a good hydro. It is on Ebay...so hopefully I win the auction!
I also have a Dive Shop right near my house, so I'm going to give them a call too and see if I can work something out with them also (always good to have a backup plan)

Shipping & Handling may make it expensive ...
See when the last Visual Inspection was on top of the last Hydro Date.
The Scuba Shop near you may sell you used tanks too. See how much they will fill it for. See how much a "Boot" is for it. I need one - okay, I want one.

Here is what I am bidding on: Shipping should be between $20-$30 "You are bidding on a used Luxfer Aluminum 80 cubic foot scuba tank with boot and valve cover. The last hydro and visual was done January 2001. The tank has not been used since 2002, but has been stored 3/4 full and will be emptied for shipping. The numbers stamped on the tank are CTC/DOT 3AL3000-S80; Serial No. P136798."

How much is the tank (starting bid) ? When does the auction End ?
Dont' worry, I won't bid on it (LOL)
See what is the min $$ the seller will take (they can opt to end the auction early)
New ones are $120.00 and $20.00 for shipping on the net. The store in Fairfield sold used ones for around $100.00.....

I lost the bid on that tank I'm looking at bidding on a similar one. The bids are normally between $30-$40 for starts. Shipping is anywhere from $20-$40. I just need to make sure I get ine that has a current Hydro...I don't need to spend more money to get it tested (unless I get it REALLY CHEAP to start)

Shawn,
Look for one locally. The freight is toooo high. Besides, some stores may charge you for a "current visual inspection sticker" in order to fill it. Quit chasing the eBay because there are too many variables.
Call the shop in Fairfield, or the one in Finneytown. See what they have to offer

I called the local dive shop down here and they said that they have NO PROBLEM filling a tank for me. All I have to do is sign a wavier form.
I'm going to stop by their store tomorrow and see if they have any used tanks for sale. I'm looking at staying under $100 for the tank, testing.
I know there are a lot of variables from buying a tank on Ebay, but it may be the only way I can get a tank within my price range.
